Police launch search for two missing Scottish Highlands walkers

Police Scotland have launched an urgent appeal for information after Adam Chalmers, 36, went missing while hiking in the Scottish Highlands. It was last heard from the Ben Lawers range at 12.40pm on Saturday.
Mr Chalmers had planned to climb three Munros (Meall Greigh, Meall Garbh and An Stuc) and in his last message stated that there was only one left. He is described as white, 1.70 meters tall, of stocky build, bald, with a medium-length brown beard.
He was wearing a green-blue triangular patterned fleece, a grey-black waterproof jacket, green hiking pants, a blue hat and brown boots. He was carrying a backpack with orange elastic ties.
Inspector Iain Gillies said: “We are appealing for anyone with any information about Adam’s whereabouts to come forward as soon as possible. We are particularly keen to speak to any hikers who were in the Lawers area on Saturday and have seen Adam or know anything that could help pinpoint his location and route.”

Anyone with information should contact police on 101 quoting incident number 2881 of May 23.
An emergency call has also been launched for a missing 60-year-old American tourist who was last seen in the Highlands.
Timothy Rosser was seen driving a black MH rental car, registration LE75 FNO, in Glencoe on Tuesday, May 19. Authorities are concerned that Mr Rosser’s failure to contact his family was “out of character” and that he was not checking into hotels he had previously booked.

Mr. Rosser is described as white, 6 feet tall, slim with short white hair.
Sergeant Lewis Macleod, of Police Scotland, said: “Timothy has been unable to check into his pre-booked hotels in the area and it is out of character not to be in contact with his family.
“We would appeal to anyone with any information about his whereabouts, or who may have walked in the area on May 19 and seen anything that could assist our search, to come forward as soon as possible.”
Anyone with information should contact police on 101 quoting incident number 2326 of 23 May 2026.
