Police release images after 15yo boys ‘ambushed’ in machete attack
Police have released photos of a group of boys they say ambushed two teenagers armed with machetes in a park in Melbourne’s west.
The 15-year-old brothers are believed to have met up with 11 other teenagers at a park near Garretty Rd in Caroline Springs before setting off at around 5.40pm on December 30.
Investigators believe the pair were lured to the area before being attacked by the group, with at least one man armed with a machete.
Police received numerous triple 0 calls from witnesses who reported seeing a group of people fighting and someone armed with a machete.
Two 15-year-old boys were found nearby; One suffered “serious cut injuries” to his arm and back, and the other suffered injuries to his face.
“Detectives were told the incident followed an online argument between parties who did not know each other personally,” Victoria Police said in a statement. he said.
Investigators released footage of a group of boys and an attractive vehicle walking along the street before the incident.
Police say seven of those believed to have been involved arrived and parked on Boathouse Drive in a black Ford Ranger with fake registration plate DRY685.
CCTV later captured eight people exiting the vehicle, while the other three were last seen running towards Lorimer Street at around 5.45pm.
