Police slammed as more than 285,000 crimes were not recorded last year

New research, more than 285,000 crimes were not recorded by the police last year.
The inspection of the Majesty’s Constabilities and Fire Department and Rescue Services (HMICFRS) was recorded by the forces in England and Wales on March 31, 94.8 percent of crimes.
While HMICFRS rose from 80.5 percent in 2014, the number of officially documented anti-social behavior crimes is “unacceptable low”.
While praising the increase, this meant that more than 285,000 crimes were not registered.
Inspector, forces, such as harassment, follow -up and control or compelling behavior, such as affecting women and girls disproportionate and 37.9 percent of the unauthorized violence crimes should improve the registration of crimes, he said.
He also said that they should improve the record of crimes classified as domestic abuse, anti-social behavior and crimes affecting vulnerable people.
Surveillance stressed that only 78 percent of the average crimes were recorded within 24 hours and that civil servants should register crimes at the earliest opportunity.
The sample cases inspected between 2021-2025 showed that five forces have recorded less than 40 percent of crimes within 24 hours, one reached 2.6 percent and took more than a week to record most of the crimes.

The Majesty’s Constabulary Inspector Roy Wilsher said: “In order for the people to trust and trust in policing, the police need to know that when they declare a crime, the police will know that they will record it without any right and delay.
“Recording these crimes correctly means that forces can quickly allocate cases and start investigations immediately.
“More importantly, it also helps the victims to get a better service and to have desperate support.
“We have seen significant improvements in the awareness and understanding of the records and importance of crimes of forces.
“I am particularly satisfied with the way to move our suggestions from previous investigations.
“However, there is still more to do.
“For example, violent crimes are still not well recorded and the crime reporting level of antisocial behaviors is unacceptable.”
The data obtained from an audit period between 2021 and 2025 argued that only 51.9 percent of crimes classified as anti-social behavior targeting a particular person or group were recorded.
In the report, he said: “This means that the level of crime is unacceptable and that the victims are at risk of harm.”
For violence crimes, 93.6 percent of the crimes were recorded, 98 percent for a power and a rate of less than 90 percent for two forces.
Inspectors said that civil servants should be sure that they have accurately recorded unapproved rape reports. The correct procedure of the samples that were reviewed between 2021-2025 was used less than 70 percent of cases.
In general, the police recorded 95.9 percent of sexual crimes between 2023 and 2025 – the highest rate was recorded in 2024, which recorded 100% of such crimes and 87% in 2023.
In the report, 2.3 percent of the crimes that were unnecessarily documented by extreme records were unnecessarily documented.
