Woman and man are arrested after ‘abduction’ of schoolgirl, 14, who vanished two days ago

A man and a woman were arrested on suspicion of kidnapping following the disappearance of a female student on Sunday.

The 14-year-old girl was reported missing and was last seen on CCTV in Rotherham town center around 7pm.

A 60-year-old man and a 26-year-old woman were arrested on suspicion of kidnapping in the early hours of Tuesday. Both are being held in police custody.

Officers said they went door-to-door and reviewed local CCTV and phone records in search of the schoolgirl.

At around 4pm on Tuesday, police confirmed they had located him safe and well.

A South Yorkshire Police spokesman said: ‘Following appeals for information issued over the last few days we can confirm that missing Rotherham teenager Cassidy has been found safe and well.

‘We thank everyone who shared our calls; Your support is always appreciated.’
