Politics only During Polls, Focus on Development: Ponguleti

Nalgonda: Revenue Minister Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy on Sunday said politics should be limited to election time and the focus will be on development and implementation of promises made to the people.

He spoke after attending the induction ceremony of Edulapuram mayor Pokabathini Anitha and congratulating the newly elected Congress councillors.

The Minister stated that development and welfare activities should be given priority after the elections and asked the council members to follow the same principle. He stated that the assurances given during the election campaign in Edulapuram will be fulfilled and development works will be started on a priority basis.

Stating that Edulapuram municipality is spread over a large area with a lot of open lands, he said that it is necessary to use these lands properly. He highlighted water stagnation that could lead to unhygienic conditions in open areas and emphasized the need to improve civic amenities. He said special emphasis would be given to urban infrastructure development and reiterated that Edulapuram would be developed as a model municipality in the state.

Giving advice to councillors, he said they should tour their wards every morning, inspect cleaning efforts, remain accessible to residents and monitor development works to ensure quality.

He instructed the municipal authorities to remove the constructions encroaching on the nalas and said that a municipal council meeting will be held within 15 days to finalize the work to be done.
