Poll bugle to fall silent across Tamil Nadu on Tuesday evening

Intensive campaigns of political parties and their candidates all over Tamil Nadu for the Assembly elections will end at 6 pm on Tuesday, April 21, 2026. Voting in all 234 constituencies will begin at 7 am on April 23. All political officers and party workers who are not voters in a constituency must vacate the ballot boxes just after 6pm on Tuesday.
There are a total of 4,023 candidates in the fight. Senior BJP leaders led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Ministers Rajnath Singh and Amit Shah; Congress leaders including Rahul Gandhi, Mallikarjun Kharge and DK Shivakumar; Telugu Desam Party leader and Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu; AAP leader Arvind Kejriwal; and RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav were among the leaders who visited the state for election campaign in the past few weeks.
