’60 Minutes’ segment on CECOT prison mysteriously delayed

CBS’s “60 Minutes” postponed a segment interviewing immigrants sent to El Salvador’s maximum-security prison, CECOT, after being deported by the Trump administration.

The “Inside CECOT” segment was originally going to feature reporter Sharyn Alfonsi interviewing “some of the now-released deportees who described brutal and torturous conditions.”

“Earlier this year, the Trump administration deported hundreds of Venezuelan immigrants to El Salvador, a country with which most had no ties, claiming they were terrorists. The schedule did not give a reason for the delay, but a CBS spokesperson told Fox News Digital that the network “determined the need for additional reporting.”

The Trump administration has faced controversy over its deportation of hundreds of Venezuelan gang members to CECOT earlier this year. In March, U.S. District Judge James Boasberg issued an emergency order blocking President Donald Trump from deporting some immigrants to El Salvador. Despite the decision, hundreds of migrants remained in CECOT for months.
