Pope delivers call for peace in conflict-hit regions

Pope Leo XIV called for an end to violence in conflict-hit parts of the world during his prayer for peace at the Vatican.
No one should have to flee their home because of a bomb threat, Leo, leader of 1.4 billion Catholics worldwide, said as he led a worldwide Rosary for peace on Saturday.
The desire for power and verbal violence should be replaced by a thirst for justice and truth, he added, adding that innocents should not shed any more tears.
Leo said peace is possible even in these times of tension and conflict.
“This is possible when we choose to listen to the cries of the deprived, of innocent children, of suffering mothers and fathers, of abused prisoners, of refugees and of people of all ages suffering,” he said.
They all “have one word on their lips: peace!”
The Pope also appealed to individuals, saying that everyone has personal responsibility.
All people can contribute to a more peaceful society with small but important steps, he said, suggesting refraining from verbal and physical violence, both in daily life and on social media.
