Postal Dept. Revenue For 2025-26 Improved 16% YOY: Jyotiraditya Scindia

New Delhi: The postal department has posted revenue of Rs 15.296 billion for the financial year 2025-26, up 16 per cent year-on-year, communications minister Jyotiraditya Scindia said on Monday. The minister also said the department is targeting higher growth for FY27 by focusing on deepening the reach of services, customer acquisition and six sigma service level agreements with customers.

“The year has been ‘historic’ for the department. We have also introduced three new products and are now trying to increase the penetration of many of our services, acquire new customers, comply with very stringent ‘Six Sigma’ service level agreements with all our customers to achieve an even greater growth rate in the next fiscal year,” Scindia told reporters while unveiling the revenue scorecard at the postal department’s annual business meeting.

The revenue for the financial year 2024-25 stood at 13.218 billion rupees and in 2025-26 the revenue figure increased to 15.296 billion rupees. “This is a growth rate of 16 percent. We have probably achieved a growth rate of over 15 percent in this department over a long period of time,” the minister said.

“Eight of the 23 circles achieved more than 90 percent of their goals, 14 met 80 to 90 percent of their goals, and only one met less than 80 percent of their goals,” Scindia said, adding that the performance underscores a major transformation in the way the department operates as a service-oriented organization.

Among verticals, plots rose to ₹1,133 crore in FY26, driven by star show from Jharkhand, Telangana and Gujarat; this is nearly 69 percent higher than the last fiscal. “On the second vertical, posts, we have gone from Rs 2,396 Million in revenue in FY 24-25 to Rs 3,202 Million now, which translates to a growth of 34 per cent,” Scindia said, adding that the growth was driven by Rajasthan, Assam and Jammu and Kashmir.
