Poundland closing 11 high street stores with 2 shutting next week – full list | UK | News

Poundland will close two stores next week, while a further three will begin closing sales. Customers in Deal, Kent; West Thurrock, Essex; and Cameron Toll, Edinburgh, may soon see their local stores leave the high street.

The Deal and West Thurrock branches will close on 27 October. The Edinburgh store will remain open over Christmas before closing its doors permanently on January 20.

Poundland has already closed a number of stores this year as it plans to reduce its store count from more than 800 to between 650 and 700.

The company was acquired by Brothers, who bought Poundland from PepCo.

The new owners plan to bring back simple prices of £1, £2 and £3, while reducing the amount of food sold in stores.

As a result, Poundland also closed one of its distribution centres.

Poundland is set to close a further 11 stores across the UK in October, November and January.
