‘Predatory’ teacher serving 46 years for sadistic abuse also assaulted his students

A former high school teacher currently serving a 46-year prison sentence for the sadistic sexual abuse of his own daughter has shown no remorse after being sentenced to prison for abusing two of his students.
The man, whose name has not been released to protect the identities of his victims, appeared in the Victorian State Court on Tuesday over crimes he committed against his former students in 1983.
The crime left lifelong effects on the victims; Chief Justice Amanda Chambers described it as arrogance and a breach of trust.
“Your crime was a breathtaking breach of trust. [a victim] “You are qualified to be a student under your care, supervision or authority,” Chambers said.
A jury found him guilty of five offenses, including sexual intercourse with a child under 16, in December after he committed the offense while teaching at Traralgon High School in Gippsland.
He was found guilty of four counts of indecent assault against the girl, who was in Year 11 at the time.
In 1983, he touched her inappropriately, including using a skinfold test to measure private parts of her body.
Another example was when the man attacked the victim on school grounds during the summer holidays, which Chambers said was a “predatory and reprehensible” incident.
“[The victim] He says he became an isolated teenager because of the hurt, confusion and pain he experienced after your crime,” he said in a statement on Tuesday.
The former teacher was convicted of a serious sexual offense and sentenced to a total of seven years and six months in prison.
After leaving Traralgon in 1983, Adam continued to study at various schools, moving to Presentation College in nearby Moe and then to St Anne’s Gippsland in 1989.
She moved to NSW in the 1990s and had four children, one of whom was subjected to “depraved and sadistic” abuse for 14 years, a judge found in 2016.
The girl was subjected to sustained sexual abuse and torture between the ages of five and 19, mostly while she was detained in a dilapidated tin shed that had been a chicken coop.
The man, now 69, is serving one of the longest sentences for child abuse in Australia – 46 years – for the crime and will be eligible for parole when he is 96.
Chambers said the man’s offending increased over time.
“Your crime reveals a persistent pattern of sexual deviance,” he said.
The man, who appeared via video link from Barwon Prison, was wearing a long white T-shirt and shorts and occasionally nodded and crossed his arms.
Chambers said he showed no remorse and categorically denied the offending.
Chambers said he had spent more than 40 years in prison for crimes in NSW and was likely to die in custody before being released.
