Premier League Darts 2026 results: Michael van Gerwen beats Gian van Veen to win opening night in Newcastle

Premier League Darts are played in the league stage with quarter-finals, semi-finals and a final every night for the first 16 weeks.

Each of the eight players competes with the other seven players from first to seventh and 9th to 15th. While they were guaranteed to meet in the quarter-finals in weeks 8 and 16, the matches of the 8th and 16th weeks were off the table. This means we will be fifth against fourth on the night of the final stage of the league in Sheffield, with play-off spots potentially at stake.

Players earn two points per quarterfinal win, additional points if they win the semifinals, and five points if they win the night.

Following the group stage, the top four players will progress to play-off night at London’s O2 Arena on 23 May, with the first facing the fourth and the second third in a best-of-19-leg match. This is followed by the best of 21 legs final.

If players are tied on points after 16 weeks, the rankings are determined by nights won and then matches won.
