Primark makes big change to stores nationwide from Saturday | UK | News

Primark is making a big change to its stores this weekend in a bid to improve its customers’ shopping experience. From Saturday 16 May, all Primark stores in England, Wales and Scotland will introduce a sensory-friendly shopping hour, with changes including noise reduction and no in-store announcements.

According to the high street giant, the move marks another step in its “commitment to creating a more accessible shopping experience for customers”. The initiative will see the first trading hour each Saturday adapted to better support customers with sensory sensitivities, including neurodivergent customers.

Stores will implement a range of changes aimed at creating a calmer and more comfortable shopping environment, including reduced noise levels, quieter till sounds, no in-store announcements and the support of specially trained colleagues ready to assist customers.

This launch follows a successful pilot across 26 stores in the East Midlands and North East; Feedback from customers and colleagues helped shape and refine the program ahead of wider rollout.

Kari Rodgers, Primark UK Retail Director, said: “Everyone should feel comfortable and confident when shopping in our stores.

“We know the busy nature of retail environments can be overwhelming for some customers, which is why we’re proud to offer sensory shopping hours across all our stores across Great Britain.

“The positive response to our pilot program has shown the difference small changes can make, and this launch is an important step in ensuring Primark stores are welcoming and accessible spaces for everyone.”

Primark says the initiative is part of its wider commitment to make the brand a more accessible place for customers and employees alike.

This includes expanding its range of accessible products, designing more inclusive store environments, promoting a workplace culture that prioritizes accessibility, and ensuring its campaigns feature diverse representation across all marketing and promotional materials.
