Andrew, 65, has long denied Virginia Giuffre’s allegations, but resigned from royal duties following a 2019 BBC interview in which he attempted to deny her claims.

Andrew paid millions in an out-of-court settlement in 2022 after she filed a civil lawsuit against him in New York.

Although he did not admit to doing anything wrong, he acknowledged that she had suffered as a victim of sex trafficking.

US congressman asks Andrew to provide evidence

Democratic Congressman Suhas Subramanyam, who had previously called on Andrew to testify before a US Congressional committee about his connections to Jeffrey Epstein and Ghislaine Maxwell to “clear his name”, once again called on Andrew to give evidence.

He said: “It is clear that Prince Andrew has knowledge of Epstein’s crimes and he needs to do more than give up his titles or hide from the public.

“He owes it to the victims to share everything they know about Epstein’s criminal operation and to appear before the Oversight Committee.

“No matter what happens, no matter how rich and powerful the perpetrators are, we will continue to pursue the files and all the evidence.”

Conservative leader admits it was ‘difficult’ for King to take action against brother

Conservative Party leader Kemi Badenoch said it was “very difficult” for the King to take action against his brother but it was right that the public should not tolerate allegations of sexual abuse.

Speaking to LBC Radio, he said: “I was mostly following this story about a family. “It’s a very sad situation.

“I think the King clearly felt that this was the right decision for the royal family. It must have been a very difficult thing for him to do. I mean, to have to do this to his own brother.”

“But standards and expectations in society are now very high. People expect to see the highest levels of integrity.

“And I’m afraid that the whole Jeffrey Epstein saga and everyone he touched, from Prince Andrew to Peter Mandelson, has shown that the public has no interest whatsoever in sexual abuse and sexual crimes, especially against minors. And I think that’s quite true.”

She burst into tears and added: “This normal girl from a normal family brought down a prince. We are so proud of her.”

“The survivors are proud of her and her sisters. This is an unprecedented moment in history.”

“This is not enough, we need to do some kind of investigation,” Virginia Giuffre’s brother said

Speaking to BBC Newsnight, Sky Roberts thanked Charles for his statement at Buckingham Palace expressing his “thoughts and utmost sympathy” for “victims and survivors of all forms of abuse”.

Mr Roberts said: “But that’s not enough, that’s not enough, we need to have some kind of investigation that will go deeper into this matter.

“I mean he (Andrew) is still walking around a free man.

“I admire the king, I think he’s doing a great job as a world leader, setting an example, but we need to take it a step further: he (Andrew) needs to be behind bars, period.”
