Prince Harry and Meghan Markle accused of ‘monetising every moment’ | Royal | News

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have been accused of exploiting their royal ties to make money. Royal expert Hilary Fordwich said the couple had defied requests made by Queen Elizabeth when they stepped back as senior royals in 2020.

The commentator commented, “What Queen Elizabeth II saw as completely and utterly unacceptable has been adopted by the Sussexes as their modus operandi, blurring the lines between ordinary citizens and celebrity wannabes while benefiting from their royal connections.” Fox News Digital. “Every trip they take is designed to look like a fake royal tour as they appear to cash in on almost every moment,” Fordwich said. Commentator Helena Chard said the Duke and Duchess “absolutely blurred the lines between private business and monarchy business”. He said: “Successful working members of the Royal Family work as a team and support the King on his many state and national engagements.

“They are not competing. Both Harry and Meghan recognize that although they left royal life years ago, their global importance is determined by their royal status.

“They have appeared internationally with many claiming to be self-serving, royal-like tours involving charity work in order to monetize their royal status.

“But they are no longer royals. The optics are undoubtedly confusing people, blurring the distinction between the Sussexes and the official monarchy, especially as Harry sees himself as a working royal.”

Meghan and Harry have been on several unofficial tours and visits, including trips to Jordan and Australia. The duo was reportedly paid for some of their appearances.

Asked if he was a working royal, Prince Harry replied: “No, I will always be part of the Royal Family. I’m here trying to do the things I was born to do.”

“I enjoy doing this. I hope to go on these trips and support the friends I’ve made before and bring attention to issues that come out of the news because something else comes up for one reason or another.”
