Prince Harry lays wreath to Ukrainian war dead on surprise visit to Kyiv | Ukraine

Prince Harry put a flower and flag monument in the Ukrainian War in Kiev’s Maidan Square during a surprise visit to support the country in the fight against Russia.

Harry said he wanted to do “everything that is possible” to help recover the thousands of military personnel seriously injured in a three -year war against Russia.

During his trip to Kiev, a team from the Harry and Invictus Games Foundation after an invitation from the Ukrainian government gave details of new initiatives to support the rehabilitation of the wounded to help all areas of the country.

The work of the foundation became a passion for the prince, and after leaving the army, he confessed to his purpose, “saved me,” he confessed.

Earlier this year, it was estimated that the Ukrainian War has already left 130,000 people permanently disabled – and rehabilitation through sports at the center of the government’s policy of helping veterans now.

The Prince initially said he was invited to Kiev by Olga Rudnieva, the founder and general manager of the Superhumans Trauma Center in Lviv. He visited the center in April, but a few months ago he met Rudnieva in the US by chance.

“I hit Olga in New York,” he said. “This was a chance of chance and I asked what I could do to help him. He said: ‘The biggest effect you can have to come to Kiiv.’ Then I had to meet with my wife and the British government to make sure that the official invitation was coming.

“You do not see most of the war in Lviv. So far the West. This is the first time we will see the real destruction of the war.”

The Prince has visited Kiev since he arrived this morning, met the veterans, and visited areas bombed by Russian plane and missiles.

Although Mathernová has only visited the country once before, the prince has become very popular in Ukraine. “I think it is associated with veterans and Invictus games,” he said. “It is not easy to come here during the war. People appreciate the personal time and interest they bring.”

Ukraine first participated in Invictus games in 2017, but the enthusiasm of the competition for the competition of the Ukrainians for the competition of wounded veterans by the Prince in 2014 in the sports events of the wounded veterans has grown dramatically since the conflict with Russia.

Harry remembered the reception of Ukraine in the Hague games two years ago.

Although Biennial Invictus games are the focal point of the foundation’s work, it is increasing sports recovery programs to help provide opportunities for rehabilitation beyond the main games, including sports equipment in Ukraine.
