Prince Harry loses High Court privacy case against Daily Mail publisher

An Associated Newspaper spokesman said: “His Honor Judge Nicklin today cleared the Daily Mail and Mail on Sunday and dismissed each of the 97 claims made by the plaintiffs.

“In each case, the judge accepted the honesty of our journalists’ evidence about how they sourced their stories.

“This is a magnificent testament to the Daily Mail’s journalism.”

They added that the court case had “wasted much valuable court time and more than £50 million in legal fees”.

Paul Dacre, editor-in-chief of Associated Newspapers and former Daily Mail editor, said the case was “a fabrication” and “should never have been brought to trial”.

A two-day hearing is expected to take place starting from July 29.

This is the latest in a series of courtroom battles by Prince Harry against the dishonest practices of the UK press, and is expected to be the last.

In 2023, Prince Harry won 15 claims in his lawsuit accusing Mirror Group Newspapers of illegally collecting information for stories published about him.

Last year the publisher of the Sun newspaper agreed to pay “substantial compensation” and apologize to the Duke, settling a long-running legal battle over allegations of unlawful interference in his life.

Tuesday’s decision coincided with the start of a week of talks that began with an event in London for the Invictus Games, Prince Harry’s charity for injured veterans in the United Kingdom.
