In a heartfelt message, Prince Harry recorded a good luck video that was shown to Paralympian Scott Meenagh at the Milan Cortina 2026 Paralympics. In the middle of an interview with Channel 4, Scott was handed a phone call with a long recorded message from Harry. Scott answered the phone and said: “There’s a familiar face!”

In the video, a beaming Prince Harry said: “Well, big lad! Well, Scotty, mate. H’s here. I just want to say a big congratulations. You’re carrying our flag. Wow. Wow, that’s huge. Huge respect, mate. Congratulations. I hope you’re really happy. I hope you can be proud of where you’ve come from.”

“All you have to do now is smash the PBs (personal bests). Get a medal if you want and most importantly have fun. Just thinking back to the 2014 Invictus Games, I think there were one or two more since 2017, one moment that stood out was when your running blade broke and you just kept going. You didn’t let that stop you. I think you even finished in second place.”

Prince Harry continued: “This was such an accurate example of your spirit and determination. You never wavered throughout your recovery. You overcame every element and look where you are now. Well done to you.”

“You’re a great example to everyone. So yeah, go out there, show people what you’re like. Every time you go out there and do what you do, show that you inspire a lot of people. Thank you for being you. Cheers, man.”

Prince Harry then bowed and winked at the camera. Fans also rushed to comment on the video, writing: “Good luck Scott!!! You can do this. What an inspiration. And I love the message from you man H!!! Amazing.”

Another said: “How beautiful.”

Scott Meenagh is a British para-Northern skier and former British Army soldier. He lost both legs when he stepped on an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) while serving with the 2nd Battalion Parachute Regiment in Afghanistan in 2011.

The 36-year-old, who will be the flag bearer alongside Menna Fitzpatrick at the Opening Ceremony, announced this will be his last Paralympic Games after juggling fatherhood, a degree and intense training camps for the past four years.

Speaking about her journey, she previously said: “My two kids are my number one supporters, but they’re at a really pivotal stage in their lives and I’m ready to be their biggest fan.” She said of her four-year-old daughter Bryn and two-year-old son James.

“I want to spend time being unapologetically ambitious about my goals. I want to show them that dreams, no matter how big, are worth pursuing. But there comes a point when I want to step back and let them dream bigger than I can imagine.”
