Prince Harry ‘would have missed’ Prince William during key life change | Royal | News

While Harry has always seemed like a natural father figure, the Duke of Sussex admitted he felt a sense of “struggle” after Archie was born. Speaking at Movember in Melbourne earlier this month, Harry said: “The role (of fatherhood) gives you purpose. Those days, those weeks after birth, are a real struggle.”

“If I was stressed, as soon as I held Archie… he would notice it quicker than I did.”

Although Harry was still a royal at the time of Archie’s birth and still spoke to his older brother Prince William, it is believed the brothers were not that close at the time.

A former royal editor believes Harry may have felt “less alone” when he became a father for the first time if they were close at the time and have remained close since.

Former royal editor Duncan Larcombe He told New magazine: “Whenever I used to talk to William about Harry, he would be very, very protective of him, so I’m sure there have been times in recent years when Harry has missed his relationship with his brother.

“His royal status aside, he will have missed having that person he turns to for support and advice, and perhaps feel less alone when it comes to becoming a father himself and grappling with elements of that experience.”

Larcombe continued: “William already had young children when Archie was born and he had the same childhood as Harry, so he was the perfect person for him to talk to, but unfortunately it doesn’t work that way.”

The brothers are thought to have not spoken to each other for some time, which is believed to be a result of Harry’s book Spare and the duke’s criticisms of the Royal Family.

It is not known when the brothers last spoke to each other.
