Prince Harry’s UK security arrangements to be reviewed

Prince Harry’s security arrangements are reportedly being reviewed while he is in the UK.

The Duke of Sussex wrote to Home Secretary Shabana Mahmood shortly after his appointment and requested a formal risk assessment to the Steering Committee for the Protection of the Royal Family and Public Figures (Ravec), which is overseen by the Home Office, a source close to the Duke said in October.

According to the Sun, the Ministry of Internal Affairs ordered a threat assessment for the first time since 2020.

It comes after Prince Harry lost his appeal in May against the High Court’s dismissal of his case against the Home Office over its decision that Ravec should receive a different degree of taxpayer-funded protection while in the UK.

The legal challenge comes after Harry and the Duchess of Sussex announced they wanted to step down as senior royals after leaving the UK and moving first to Canada and then California.

Harry said the Court of Appeal ruling meant it was now “impossible” for him to bring Meghan and their children Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet back to the UK safely.

According to the Sun report, Ravec instructed the Risk Management Board to re-evaluate the threat level.

The process is currently ongoing and a decision is expected in January, the newspaper said.

A government spokesman said: “The UK government’s protective security system is rigorous and proportionate.

“It is our long-standing policy not to provide detailed information about these arrangements as doing so could compromise their integrity and impact the safety of individuals.”

According to a report in The Telegraph, during Harry’s last visit to England in September, a “known stalker” came “close to his feet” twice.
