Prince William and Kate united in wanting Andrew out of Firm for good | Royal | News

Here’s an excerpt from the upcoming royal book: William and Catherine: The Intimate Inside StoryRussell Myers, Royal Editor of the Daily Mirror, said: “The late Queen tried to protect her son [Andrew] Avoiding complete exile, clinging to the hope that one day he would be exonerated.” It continued: “Similarly, while accepting that his brother would never be able to return to public office, Charles tried to comply with his mother’s wishes and for a long time refrained from pressing for Andrew’s complete exile. William, in turn, made it clear that there would be no such mercy when he became king.”

He later added: “But with every Balmoral reunion or Christmas trip, questions arose about how close Andrew really was to the King or William.

“Did he think that if the Royal Family stayed quiet or kept him close it would all be over? William and Catherine never saw it that way.”

The book also states that Andrew’s lack of responsibility and repeated denials of any wrongdoing were “hugely important” to William and Catherine’s relationship with him.

As Mr. Myers shared, William was outraged that his father extended a hand of goodwill to then-Prince Andrew and his ex-wife Sarah Ferguson and invited them to spend Christmas at Sandringham with the rest of the Royal Family in 2023.

Along with family members including the King, William and Catherine, Andrew and Sarah took part in a public walk to St Mary Magdalene Church in the grounds.

The idea of challenging the monarch led to William being “largely put in his place”, and he resolved not to “provoke” his father any further.

Stepping out alongside royal relatives, Andrew was seen trying to chat up his nephew, who was apparently gathered outside Westminster Cathedral. According to one expert, William “did not want to be seen chatting with his uncle”.
