Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth on Friday announced an agreement to build a Qatar Emiri Air Force facility at U.S. Air Force Base in Idaho.
Hegeth said the facility at Mountain Home Air Force Base will allow Qatari air force pilots to train with American military personnel.
The defense minister made the announcement alongside Qatari Defense Minister Sheikh Saoud bin Abdulrahman Al Thani at a Pentagon press conference.
Hegseth said the facility “will host Qatar F-15s and pilots to enhance our combined training, increase lethality and interoperability, this is just another example of our partnership.”
Mountain Home Air Force Base currently has a contingent of F-15 fighter jets from the Singapore air force deployed there as part of a training program for that country’s pilots.
The Pentagon did not immediately respond to a request for comment on Hegseth’s announcement.
