Prince William’s message for Australia and shout out for AUKUS days after Harry, Meghan’s tour announced

Prince William has sent a heartfelt message to Australia, days after his estranged brother Harry and his wife Meghan announced they were heading Down Under.

Appearing in a video posted on social media, the heir to the throne spoke in support of the Australian Navy and the Royal Navy Submarine Service, which are both celebrating their 125th birthdays, and also gave a special salute to AUKUS.

The Sussex couple announced over the weekend that they would arrive in mid-April and visit Sydney and Melbourne. They will travel as private citizens and focus on businesses and charitable causes during their stay.

Meghan was announced as the “highlight” of Her Best Life’s three-day retreat in Sydney; Here tickets are sold from $2699 per person up to $3199 for the “VIP experience”.

In contrast, Prince Harry will be the keynote speaker at a workplace mental health summit in Melbourne; Tickets here start at $1,978 per person and go up to more than $17,000 for a platinum table with eight reservations.

Prince William, who serves as honorary Superintendent of the Royal Navy Submarine Service, has also turned his attention to Australia.

In his video message, he noted the “enduring relationship” between the Australian and UK navies.

“As HMAS Anson (the United Kingdom’s nuclear-powered submarine) visits Australia, I celebrate the 125th birthday of both the Royal Naval Submarine Service and the Australian Navy,” Prince William said.

“Today we remember the generations of service personnel who served to provide support to our UK, Australian and Commonwealth partners in both the World Wars and the decade after.

“And we thank those who continue the spirit of service today. We are proud that UK and Australian sailors and submariners are celebrating this anniversary together in Australia.”

Through the AUKUS program and in operations and exercises around the world, our two countries will continue to work together to protect our common values, peace and security.

“AUKUS is a testament to this enduring relationship and we look forward to the next 125 years of collaboration.

AUKUS is a multibillion-dollar submarine agreement between Australia, the UK and the US aimed at helping Australia replace its aging Collins-class submarine fleet.
