A 78-year-old man has lodged a complaint with the Cyber Crime Police seeking a detailed investigation into his alleged fraud by a company that sent fake products to random addresses under the Cash on Delivery (COD) option.
Based on a complaint filed by a resident of JP Nagar, the cyber crime police registered a case against the unknown person charging him under the IT Act and cheating and impersonation sections of BNS on Friday, October 26, 2025, for further investigation.
The complainant stated in his complaint that the incident occurred on October 11, when he was at home and received a package on behalf of his daughter from a well-known cargo company. The product was a 90 gram Korean exfoliating face mask worth ₹699.
When she talked to her daughter, she said that she did not order such a product. Acting on suspicion, the old man visited the company’s branch in Puttenahalli and received information that the package was procured from a company in Delhi.
When he looked into the company in more detail online, he saw that many people across the country had been deceived in a similar way and had filed complaints online.
The police launched an investigation into the incident and called the relevant people to testify.
Police said the company is suspected of obtaining data and addresses from social media and sending random packages to people to trick them into selling its products.
“While many people refuse to accept the package, some take it out of curiosity and get scammed. They avoid approaching the police as the money involved in the fraud is less,” said a police officer.
