Karnataka finalising comprehensive Data Centre Policy to support AI infrastructure

The policy will complement the state’s broader AI vision while creating the digital infrastructure required to support AI-led innovation and next-generation computing, the IT/IT department said in a statement.
Atheeq said this while speaking at the inaugural edition of the Global Talent Centers (GCC) summit in Bengaluru. The statement stated that the summit brought together more than 500 delegates and representatives from more than 200 Gulf Cooperation Council and multinational companies.
Discussions focused on artificial intelligence, talent, digital infrastructure, innovation, institutional transformation and the state’s roadmap to strengthen India’s leadership as a leading Gulf Cooperation Council destination.
Atheeq said there are plans to establish India’s first public sector-led AI university and a world-class AI center to advance AI research, innovation and commercialization.
He said a Vision Group for Artificial Intelligence University will be constituted soon with significant participation from the private sector and reiterated the state’s commitment to expand the growth of the GCC beyond Bengaluru to emerging technology clusters across Karnataka.
He said the state’s special Gulf Cooperation Council Policy, NIPUNA (the government’s flagship skills initiative for emerging technologies) and KATALYST, Karnataka’s special facilitation mechanism for Global Talent Hubs, are the key pillars supporting the next phase of the state’s GCC growth through future-ready talent, innovation and industry facilitation. Today, the state is home to around 1,100 GCC units employing around 6.6 lakh professionals, making it one of the largest and most mature GCC ecosystems in the world. The statement stated that Karnataka is the first state in India to launch a special Gulf Cooperation Council Policy for 2024-2029.
“Our aim is not only to strengthen Bengaluru’s position as India’s Gulf Cooperation Council capital, but also to create opportunities for the next wave of growth across the state,” Atheeq said. he said.
