Princess Anne meets humanoid robot in South Korea

Princess Anne had a royal meet-and-greet experience with a twist when she shook hands with a humanoid robot in South Korea.

Anne, who is on a three-day official visit to the country, watched the cutting-edge machine zip back and forth at a demonstration at the smart mobility lab at Korea University in Seoul.

The robot also waved at the princess, causing King Charles’ sister to smile.

Anne was said to be extremely interested in talking about AI and had heard about how the robot learns movement through trial and error as well as simulation.

Wearing dark blue casual gloves, the princess leaned forward to greet the robot with a handshake.

Accompanied by her husband, Vice-Admiral Sir Tim Laurence, Anne also watched demonstrations of a dual-armed robot and motion capture system.

He was visiting the university to see examples of UK-South Korea academic, industrial and research collaboration in science and technology.
