Princess Kate’s genius hack to keep glittering new tiara in place as fans in frenzy | Royal | News

The Princess of Wales turned heads when she stepped out in a brand new dress and a new tiara for the German state banquet on Wednesday evening. Princess Catherine wowed fans as she wore her new tiara, Queen Victoria’s Oriental Ring Tiara.
The sparkling piece, set in diamonds and rubies, was designed for Victoria by her German-born husband Prince Albert in 1853 and is thought to have been a thoughtful gift from the future Queen to the King’s guests. For the white tie celebration, Catherine sparkled in a periwinkle blue, floor-length sequined dress by Jenny Packham, featuring an asymmetrical neckline and flowing cape shoulder details.
She also wore the late Queen’s earrings, the Royal Family Order and the GCVO Sash and Star.
Catherine’s hair was down and styled in her signature waves, and royal fans were quick to notice how expertly she pinned the new tiara in place.
It looks like the princess’s hair was wrapped around the back of the crown to keep it securely on top of her head.
Royal fans loved seeing the princess in a new crown and expressed their joy on social media.

Oriental Ringed Crown is also known as Indian Crown. It was a favorite of the Queen Mother.
The large yet delicate-looking piece features diamond lotus flowers and belts and wraps itself almost all the way around the wearer’s head.
Albert had it made as an opal crown for Victoria in 1853, and was said to have been inspired by a crown made for the monarch by the East India Company in 1851 to commemorate the end of the Great Exhibition.
However, Queen Alexandra later replaced the opals, which were considered unlucky, with rubies.
Catherine often wears her indispensable tiara, the Lovers’ Knot, at state banquets.
