Princess Kate’s secret royal trip strategy that helps her alleviate ‘mum guilt’ | Royal | News

The Princess of Wales recently returned to overseas royal tours after nearly four years. Kate visited Reggio Emilia, Italy, to learn about the city’s approach to raising young children as part of her ‘life’s work’ with the Royal Foundation Early Childhood Centre.

Kate is known for being an extremely hands-on mom, doing school work, attending events, and spending quality time with them away from the screen.

But being a mother and senior royal means juggling a number of duties, and in the past Kate has shared ‘motherly guilt’ when work sometimes gets in the way of her parenting.

A royal expert told MirrorThat’s why Kate’s trip is short and sharp, but also so effective; something that has become a growing trend with royal visits.

Former BBC royal correspondent Jennie Bond said: “He packed a lot into his two days, and this is increasingly the style of royal visits: short, sharp and intense. Maximum impact in a minimum number of days.”

“And that suits every working mother. We all suffer from mother guilt, and Catherine is no exception. I think she will continue to prioritize her children’s needs for years to come.”

The Princess shared her experiences of maternal guilt on Giovanna Fletcher’s podcast Happy Mum, Happy Baby. When asked by the host if she had ever had such an experience, she replied: “Yes, absolutely, and as a mother, anyone who hasn’t experienced this is actually lying.

“Even this morning, when they came to visit the kindergarten here, George and Charlotte said: ‘Mom, how could you not give us a lift to school this morning?’

“It’s a constant challenge; you hear it over and over again from moms, even moms who don’t necessarily work and don’t have to juggle work life and family life.”

But Ms Bond stressed that the three young royals were “old enough now” to understand the duties and important role their mothers carry.

And luckily, trips like Princess Kate’s recent trip to Italy can be arranged at a time when she won’t have to miss things like sports days or other school events.
