Princesses Beatrice and Eugenie arrive at Peter Phillips’ Cotswolds wedding days after it was revealed they’ve lived rent-free at palaces years

Princess Beatrice and Eugenie attended Peter Phillips’ second wedding in the Cotswolds today after it was revealed they had not paid a penny of rent despite not being on royal duty.

Daughters of disgraced former duke Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor arrived smiling at Peter Phillips’ wedding today despite the National Audit Office’s ‘outrageous’ report into their family finances.

Princess Beatrice could be seen in the passenger seat of a Range Rover before heading to the venue shortly after midday as flocks of guests flocked to All Saints Church in Gloucestershire ahead of the arrival of Peter and Harriet Spering.

The 37-year-old was seen wearing an Alice band and a leafy green-and-white dress print as she prepared to celebrate the King’s niece, 48, and NHS Bride, 45.

She walked arm in arm with her husband Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi, carrying an umbrella in the rainy weather.

Her sister Eugenie, who will give birth to her third child this summer, was seen walking behind them in a navy blue outfit with matching shoes and hat, along with her husband James Brooksbank.

Meanwhile, their other cousin, Prince Harry, is expected not to attend today’s wedding of the son of Princess Anne, who is said to have not spoken to her cousin ‘for years’.

While sources say the Welsh presence will inevitably play a part, her strained relationship with Peter largely stems from an incident almost two decades ago.

Following the Duke of Sussex’s first wedding to Canadian Autumn Kelly, which his cousin attended with his then-girlfriend Chelsy Davey, Peter’s Hello! He was said to be angry with Peter for making a deal with Peter. magazine without telling the family.

But the arrival of their cousins, the York brothers, came amid another bombshell; this time it was directly linked to their finances.

Yesterday, the cushy residential deals enjoyed by both working and non-working royals were revealed in a report from the National Audit Office.

The two princesses, who performed no royal duties, were only married to their grandmother, Queen Elizabeth II. Not by Elizabeth, but now by their uncle, King Henry III. It was revealed that Charles had been secretly providing financial support for years.

Sources said the arrangement for Beatrice and Eugenie was made during the reign of the late monarch, who was very fond of his grandchildren, and the King agreed to honor it.

From 2008 both York sisters lived at St James’s Palace until Eugenie moved to Ivy Cottage in the grounds of Kensington Palace in 2018.

Eugenie, 38, now splits her time between her £3.6 million Portuguese home and London and has a star-studded list of neighbors including fashion designer Christian Louboutin and F1 racing drivers.

Meanwhile, her sister Beatrice, 37, was staying at the flat she shares with property developer husband Edo Mapelli Mozzi and his family, and also owns a multi-million pound home in the Cotswolds.

According to the report, both rents are paid to the Royal Household entirely by Charles from the Privy Purse, which consists of the revenues of the Duchy of Lancaster and other private funds. There was no taxpayer money at stake.

But the houses are located in occupied royal palaces, maintained by public funding through the Sovereign Grant, which is effectively repaid by the monarch on their behalf.

And for several years its adjusted rents, which had been reduced because the Royal Household properties required tenants with security clearances, were based, like others, on outdated open market valuations.

The report found that even the self-imposed 60 percent rule was not always adhered to, and some properties were found to be seriously below market value.

But they weren’t the only royal family to face scrutiny; Other statements, such as allowing three properties on Windsor Manor rented by their father to be rented to staff for a potential profit, were criticized as ‘outrageous’.

Embarrassed Andrew may also be entitled to more than £300,000 in ‘compensation’ from the Crown Estate after being kicked out of the Royal Lodge after paying ‘pepper’ rent for more than two decades beyond the end of his 75-year lease.

The 66-year-old was kicked out of the Grade II-listed mansion by his reigning brother after he was stripped of his title of Prince over his friendship with pedophile financier Jeffrey Epstein. Andrew denied any wrongdoing.

But Prince and Princess Michael of Kent were not the only royal daughters to benefit from subsidized rent, as they have long enjoyed a government-backed arrangement in a luxury flat at Kensington Palace.

The NAO report, which revealed Andrew paid ‘pepper rent’ at Royal Lodge, is factual but does not aim to examine value for money.

However, it is likely that a number of questions will be raised by MPs regarding the content of the document in the next few months.

Former Liberal Democrat minister Norman Baker, a long-standing critic of the royal finances, said: ‘This is outrageous. If you look at Andrew, this adds insult to injury.

‘This shows absolute disdain for taxpayers. The money should have gone to the Crown Estate, not his pocket.’

He said of Beatrice and Eugenie: ‘There is no way that non-working members of the Royal Family will be subsidized by the Duchy of Lancaster. ‘Once again the Royal Family are taking the public on quite a journey.’

Amidst the discovery, it has been claimed that the two sisters now ‘symbolise the rot at the heart’ of the Royal Family, alongside their ‘greedy’ and ‘defrauding’ parents.

Tina Brown, a friend of Princess Diana and also a journalist, claimed that Prince William had a pessimistic view of his cousins and ‘rejected’ her offer to audit their firm’s activities.

This claim was also made by royal writer Andrew Lownie.

Meanwhile, the former editor-in-chief of Tatler and Vanity Fair said the House of York ‘symbolises the rot at the heart of the entire royal system, where the ‘aura’ of the monarchy provides absolute immunity to its members’.

‘I am not on the side of believing that the two exuberant York girls, Princesses Beatrice and Eugenie, should be welcomed into the cleansed Royal society,’ he said.

‘Walking around the UAE and Saudi Arabia as “cultural ambassadors” of the Middle East sounds awfully Fergie-like to me.

‘Most of the ‘meetings’ they attend consist of bustling markets with nepo nightmares and crypto creeps looking for scraps of sovereign wealth funds.’

In his Substack column, Fresh Hell added before the NAO report was published: ‘One wonders why they allegedly refused Prince William’s request to audit his business activities to ensure there was no reputational risk.’

He took aim at Fergie’s hunger for money even after the Epstein scandal, adding: ‘Who in their right mind would hire a chatty, freewheeling shopaholic like Sarah Ferguson as a ‘brand ambassador’ to expand her business?’

A Buckingham Palace spokesman said: ‘We are grateful to the National Audit Office for this report, which is consistent with the Royal Household’s commitment to transparency.

‘We hope the findings will help to correct, clarify or contextualise a number of points regarding royal estates.

‘As the report notes, regulations for properties managed by the Royal Household vary depending on a number of factors that will ensure that residences are appropriately occupied, depending on their location, tenants and purpose.’

A spokesman for the Crown Estate said: ‘The Crown Estate welcomes the National Audit Office’s review, which confirmed that its leases with members of the Royal Family were agreed in line with independent, professional advice and open market valuations.’
