Projectiles launched at police during Henry Nowak protest in new video | News

A judge has spoken of the “ironicity” of violent protesters being caught thanks to videos shared on social media by those involved in unrest in Southampton following the murder of Henry Nowak.
The protests broke out after police body camera footage was made public, showing the student lying handcuffed and dying after being stabbed by 23-year-old Vickrum Digwa. Digwa was later sentenced to life imprisonment with a minimum term of 21 years.
During the sentencing hearing on Friday, June 12, Southampton Crown Court was shown video footage of the Southampton disorder, including clips posted by some protesters on social media, as well as police body-worn video and aerial drone footage.
Judge William Mousley KC sentenced three more offenders, bringing the total so far to 13.
Harry Varney, 34, of Southampton, was sentenced to three years in prison; Denis Read, 28, of Sarisbury Green, was sentenced to two years and eight months in prison; and Benjamin Jones, 23, of Eastleigh, were sentenced to two years and two months in prison.
