Property owners invited to bring Hollywood home as Screenwest searches for filming locations

Perth residents have the chance to use their homes to taste Hollywood.

From mid -century houses to mansions, huts, farm houses and apartments, as the screen production level grows in WA, the film is in demand as a hot demand.

Screenwest calls for new suggestions of housing properties for the online location gallery while looking for new points for location scouts film projects.

Gabrielle Cole, Head of Industry Development, said, “Production teams and location scouts are contacted every day for the position packages for potential shots in Perth and Regional WA, so we want to create the number of housing properties we have in our gallery,” he said.

“It is not only luxury houses requested for screen production. It can be used as all kinds of property film places depending on the type, location and period of the story. Character houses are really wanted like impressive mansions from the 1960s and 70s, and even renovated retro houses.

“In some cases, property owners were used as extra or found themselves in the role of Cameo, which may be very excited to be involved in production and eventually see yourself on the screen.”

Screenwest said that there were more calls from landlords and tenants to check whether unwanted approaches and letters box drops were fraud.

Rachael Hawkins, location manager, said the “Shooting Request” letters will be left in the mailboxes.

“While the location scouts are always looking for unique properties, they are looking for shooting places,” he said.

“We will lose the places that are compatible with the creative summary, and if no one is at home, he will leave a letter interested in the property and ask the owners or invaders to communicate with us.”

A location fee is paid at any place used for shooting. This fee is different with each place and production and depends on access needs and attraction lengths and durations.

Currently, the Screenwest Wa Locations Gallery has 1900 lists, including more than 600 housing property registered as possible film places.
