Kesineni Sivanath Launches Skill Training Programme For SHG Women

Vijayawada: MP Keseni Sivanath became the first Member of Parliament to launch a structured skill development program for women from Self Help Groups (SHGs) in NTR district.
The three-day training program on termite, cockroach and mosquito control concluded at the MP office on Wednesday and 50 SHG women were awarded certificates.
The program was jointly organized by Keseni Foundation, Envu India and National Institute of Rural Development (NIRD), Hyderabad.
Speaking at the event, Mr. Sivanath said the initiative reflects Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu’s vision of making every family an entrepreneur. He said around 400 SHG women were trained in various livelihood skills at NIRD this December, including vermicomposting, mushroom cultivation, honey processing, handmade paper, jewelery making and pest control services.
The MP assured educated women of marketing support and said DWCRA markets with free rotating stalls would be set up to help them sell their produce. He added that a comprehensive plan was in place to train 250 women every month in six batches.
