Prosecutors to DROP two charges against trio of playboy Alexander brothers accused of raping multiple women

Federal prosecutors plan to drop two charges against the Alexander brothers in the ongoing federal sex trafficking case, it was announced at a hearing Friday.

Three brothers — twins Oren and Alon, 38, and Tal Alexander, 39 — are currently on trial in Manhattan, accused of drugging, raping and trafficking dozens of women as part of a campaign of violence that spanned more than a decade.

The prosecution argued its case before a jury last month and is expected to be heard Monday.

Madison Smyser, an assistant U.S. attorney for the Southern District of New York, requested that two of the sex trafficking charges against the three siblings be dismissed during a Friday morning conference with Judge Valerie E. Caproni.

“We don’t plan on going before a jury with numbers six and seven,” Smyser said. New York Times.

Both charges relate to sex trafficking charges filed against three brothers in June 2009.

Jason Goldman, the lawyer representing the brothers in the civil case, told the Daily Mail that this development was an example of the justice system working as intended.

“The defense has filed sworn affidavits of alibi on these charges,” Goldman said. Prosecutors, by contrast, routinely drop charges when evidentiary, factual or legal issues lead them to conclude that they cannot meet the burden of proving the case beyond a reasonable doubt.

‘This is exactly how the justice system is supposed to work.’

The dismissal still needs to be approved by Judge Caproni.

If confirmed, the brothers face 10 charges, including conspiracy to commit sex trafficking and sex trafficking by force, fraud or coercion.

The three brothers denied all charges and insisted that any sexual intercourse was consensual.

If convicted, they each face life in prison.
