PSG request to move match before Liverpool Champions League tie

Paris St-Germain wanted to postpone their Ligue 1 match against title rivals Lens, which is between the two legs of the Champions League quarter-final. Liverpool.
PSG are scheduled to visit Lens in the summit clash on Saturday, April 11, three days after hosting Arne Slot and three days before the return leg at Anfield.
Liverpool will host Fulham in the Premier League on April 11.
In response to PSG’s postponement request to France’s Ligue de Football Professionel (LFP), Lens, who are seeking a first league title since 1998, issued a statement saying they were strongly opposed to the “disturbing notion” if the fixture was moved to a later date.
Lens added that domestic leagues risked “some of them slowly falling into the status of a cohesion variable in line with European mandates”.
“Beyond this specific situation, the question raised is a more fundamental one: respect for the competition itself,” a club statement said.
“Because on its own soil, one has the right to wonder that the league, no matter how legitimate, sometimes falls into second place behind other ambitions.”
Second-placed Lens are now a point behind leaders PSG – and Lens head coach Pierre Sage said after Sunday’s 5-1 win against Angers that his team had not accepted a postponement.
In PSG’s previous Champions League tie against Chelsea, Luis Enrique’s side had the weekend off between matches as their match against Nantes was postponed following a similar request. The European champions won 8-2 on aggregate.
Ultimately the final call will be made to the LFP and their stance is that they will try to help French clubs playing in Europe.
The LFP also confirmed that Strasbourg had asked for their league match in Brest the same weekend to be postponed as it fell between their Conference League matches against Mainz.
PSG have been approached for comment.
