Putin in chilling warning to Ukraine as he snubs Trump’s peace deal for new allies | World | News

Vladimir Putin issued another warning to the West on Monday during the talks with allies Xi Jinping and Narendra Modi. The Russian President opposed the expansion of NATO, which he saw as the “root cause of the long war with Ukraine. He said: “In order for a Ukrainian settlement to be sustainable and long -term, the main causes of the crisis that I have mentioned before and mentioned again should be eliminated.”
Putin argued that Ukraine was convinced to participate in the military alliance by the west – a decision that would be committed to existing members. Fearing that NATO would bring its forces to its borders, he has always opposed it since 2008, when the idea was first swimming. The war began partly because of the “attempts of the West to bring Ukraine to NATO”.
On Monday, Putin reiterated the stance that NATO’s expansion was “direct threat to Russian security” towards the east, and argued that the war was initiated after a coup supported by Ukraine’s allies.
During the meeting of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization with Chinese and Indian leaders, he thanked his allies for their “efforts and proposals” during the peace process.
The Russian President also claimed that he and Donald Trump had agreed on a roadmap for peace during his summits in Alaska last month.
He said: “In this context, we appreciate the efforts and proposals from China and India, which aim to facilitate the decision of the Ukrainian crisis.
“I also note that the understanding reached at the last Russian-US meeting in Alaska also contributed to this goal.” The Minister added that the work to solve the conflict “is already going on”.
Putin referred to the list of demands of NATO and European countries and called for a “fair balance in the field of security” for peace.
During the leaders meeting, China’s XI also called on the world leaders to unite against “hegemonism” and was accused of “bullying practices” while encouraging its vision for a new global order from the US.
He referred to Mr. Trump and the ongoing trade war without mentioning the United States and called his leaders that they should “oppose the cold war mentality, block conflict and bullying practices”.
Putin supported this and added that the block can “take a leading role in the efforts to create a more fair and equal global governance system in the world”.
