Putin says China to benefit from new gas pipeline

4 September 2025 03:54 | News

Russian President Vladimir Putin said that a new power of the Siberian 2 gas pipeline will provide a competitive advantage for China, because it will receive gas at a lower price than Europe, the world’s largest energy consumers.

Russia and China gave their blessings to the large pipeline project with a binding memorandum signed during Putin’s visit to China, but very little is known about the basic details of the pipeline, and gasprom pricing is not yet accepted.

Putin, when asked the power of the Siberian 2 agreement, told journalists in Beijing, “Finally, the negotiation parties found a consensus,” he said.

“There is no charity on both sides – these are mutually beneficial regulations.

Putin, in the meantime, the price of this product is formulated according to a specific formula, not according to the current prices, and this formula is completely objective-market based, ”he said.

One day, the pipeline, which can provide additional 50 billion cubic meters of gas (BCM) gas per year through Mongolia from Yamal’s Arctic gas fields, offers larger options to protect China against any confidence in the US’s liquefied natural gases.

Putin said that after the pipeline was built, Russia would provide China a total of 100 billion cubic meters of gas (BCM) per year.

The so -called “unlimited” partnership between China and Russia, the world’s largest natural resource manufacturer, imposed sanctions for the US and its allies to punish Russia for the war in Ukraine.

“The growing Chinese economy needs the needs and we have the opportunity to supply these raw materials, Put Putin said, adding that the talks have lasted for years.

Putin, “Of course, this will create competitive advantages for our Chinese friends because I repeat, the product is not at inflated prices in the euro zone, they will receive balanced market prices,” he said.

“Everyone is satisfied, everyone is satisfied with this result, to be honest, I too.
