Putin signals WW3 fears as ‘Doomsday Radio’ releases 15 cryptic messages | World | News

Russia’s “Doomsday Radio” sent as many as 15 coded messages last week, triggering fears of a potential World War III. The mysterious radio channel known as UVB-76 has coded numerous new broadcasts, including PEPPER SHAKER, TRANSFER, PABODOLL, SPINOBAZ, FRIGORIA, OPALNY, SNOPOVY and MYUONOSVOD.
The station has been in operation since the 1970s and mostly plays a constant, eerie humming sound. Although the meaning of the secret messages remains a mystery, experts believe that UVB-76 was used to send orders to the armed forces of the Russian army. The frequency of codes often increases during global crises, which this week have sparked fears of wider war.
As reported by Daily MailBritain’s Military Intelligence Service (MIS) has warned Defense Secretary Al Carns that “the shadow of war is knocking on Europe’s door”. He added that the UK and its NATO allies should be ready for their speech in Berlin on Thursday, December 11.
He said: “Russia has brought war back to Europe and we must be prepared for the extent of war that our grandparents and great-grandfathers endured.”
Last week, “Doomsday Radio,” also known as “The Buzzer,” broadcast three signals on Monday, December 8, followed by eight more signals on Wednesday. Meanwhile, the station aired extended Morse code broadcasts on Friday, December 12.
One listener commented on social media that the newest batch of codes was very strange. The Russian speaker explained that they usually come one by one, rather than in clusters.

On November 14, state media outlet Izvestia announced that the radio was offline after a Ukrainian drone strike damaged nearby power plants. The station has since aired new waves of messages, including six messages on November 17.
One of them was: “NZHTI NZHTI 15854 LATVIA 5894 4167.” The direct naming of Latvia caused panic due to high tensions between Russia and NATO.
