‘Harper Beckham would give anything to have her brother back’: Insiders tell KATIE HIND the full story behind the 14-year-old’s solo trip to see Brooklyn in LA – and the devastating reason she didn’t know he wasn’t home

He was devastated when his beloved brother Brooklyn was unable to contact him personally on his 14th birthday.

And now Harper Beckham is left heartbroken once again after arriving home to Los Angeles; but he found there was no answer at the gates of his vast mansion.

The teenager decided to make the impromptu visit after watching his father, David, be honored with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame on Friday.

As always, the Beckhams were the picture of unity at the event; Except for the familiar absence of Brooklyn, to which they were now strangers.

But what no one but the family knew was what Harper was planning after the cameras stopped flashing. When the event ended, he dropped off his father David, mother Victoria and older brothers Romeo and Cruz and accompanied by a chauffeur, made the five-mile journey to the £14 million Beverly Hills mansion where Brooklyn, 27, lives with his wife Nicola Peltz, 31.

Harper fervently hoped this would be their first face-to-face encounter in more than 18 months. And that would be even more touching considering his upcoming birthday, because few people know how miserable Brooklyn was when he wasn’t around for the 14th last July.

Harper idolizes her eldest brother, but I’m told her only contact with him was a message she and Nicola posted to their millions of followers on Instagram, along with a photo of the trio.

Realizing no one was home on Friday, Harper, still wearing the £335 pink camisole dress she bought from her mother’s clothes shop, looked upset before getting into a waiting car.

Friends of the Beckhams say it’s an understatement to say Harper is devastated to no longer see her oldest sibling.

Friends of the Beckhams say the teenager’s ongoing devastation at the family’s estrangement, who will soon launch her own beauty line, cannot be underestimated.

‘For the first 12 years of Harper’s life, she was very close to Brooklyn,’ says a friend. ‘He was 12 years old when he was born and he was a very influential person in his life.

‘It doesn’t take much to understand how devastated Harper is that her brother is no longer around.’

Of her decision to visit his home unannounced, her friend added: ‘Harper made the most of the opportunity. She’s a knowledgeable young woman and he misses her, so he decides to stop by and see if he can see her.

‘Unfortunately, there was no one at home. ‘He would give anything to have his brother back, to see him and to love him like before.’

Interestingly, Harper went alone with her family, instead going to watch America’s first World Cup match at SoFi stadium, but sources tell me they supported her daughters’ decision.

In fact, although David and Victoria have acknowledged that Brooklyn no longer wants them in his life (he made it very clear by blocking them on social media and posting this statement on Instagram in January), they are heartbroken that other family members have also been affected by the separation.

Brooklyn no longer communicates with Harper, as well as her brothers Romeo, 23, and Cruz, 21; both grandparents (Tony, Jackie Adams, Sandra and Ted Beckham) also suffered collateral damage from the fight.

But it’s their daughter that David and Victoria feel the most about. “To extend this to Harper is so cruel and totally upsetting,” the friend says.

Everyone I’ve spoken to who is connected to the Beckhams says Harper is a “lovely, kind and gentle” young lady who loves her family.

He also considered Nicola his idol and saw her as the older sister he never had.

But friends of the family now believe the daughter of billionaire Nelson Peltz is using Harper to gain her own reputation by posting loving photos of them together on Instagram.

In both cases, it appears that no relationship exists anymore. I’ve been told for a while that neither Brooklyn, Nicole nor Harper communicate via text, but I find that hard to believe.

But the fact that Harper suddenly appears on their doorstep unannounced implies that this is indeed true. As for the couple’s whereabouts, sources tell me they were “out of town” when Harper visited.

The duo decided to stay on the East Coast of the US after Brooklyn spoke at the Tribeca festival in New York last week.

Harper can take comfort in the fact that there will be plenty of other opportunities to meet his brother if he so chooses.

It is understood the Beckhams will be in the US for much of the summer, with David attending several World Cup matches.

For her part, Brooklyn apparently insists that she still adores her extended family.

We’ll see if he finds it in his heart to see his little sister, who misses him so much, at home next time.
