Bystander assaulted in Oshawa while trying to stop fight

Victim suffered minor injuries after incident on Saturday

A 41-year-old Oshawa man is facing charges after a female was assaulted during an altercation in Oshawa.

Durham Regional Police said that on Saturday around 10:30 a.m. they responded to an armed person call in the area of King and Simcoe Sts. with a male involved in a physical altercation with another male over a cellphone.

During the altercation, cops said that a male suspect allegedly brandished a knife and assaulted a female bystander when she attempted to stop the fight before several others intervened and held the suspect until police arrived.
The victim sustained minor injuries.
Faraz Mubashar was charged with assault, assault with a weapon, possession of a dangerous weapon and failure to comply with a release order.

MAN HIT WITH BRICK
Toronto Police have charged Zane William Bishop, 40, of Toronto with aggravated assault following his July 2 arrest.

Cops said that on June 28 at 10:18 a.m., they responded to a call for an assault in the Danforth-Broadview Aves. area.
It’s alleged that on June 27 around 4:15 a.m., the suspect and victim were waiting for a streetcar near Danforth and Broadview before the suspect allegedly found a brick and assaulted the victim.
The suspect and the victim boarded the streetcar and exchanged words. The victim later went to a hospital and called police.

COPS PROBE HAMILTON MOUNTAIN SHOOTING
Hamilton Police are asking for the public’s help after what’s believed to be a targeted shooting at a residence in the area of Rymal Rd. E. and Atessa Dr. on Tuesday shortly after 4:30 a.m.
There were no reported injuries and damage was limited to a parked vehicle in the driveway and the residence. A neighbouring residence was also struck by a stray bullet.

Police continue to gather suspect information and are seeking to identify a white or light-coloured vehicle that was seen leaving the area and travelling toward Rymal following the shooting.
Police are asking residents in the area to review their home surveillance footage for any video captured between 4:30 a.m. and 4:45 a.m. on Tuesday that may assist with the investigation. OPP BLITZ LEADS TO THOUSANDS OF CHARGES
With increased traffic on the roads last week due to the Canada Day holiday, Ontario Provincial Police were patrolling the roads, trails and waterways.
According to preliminary data during the week, the OPP laid over 19,133 traffic and marine charges, including 8,603 speeding charges, 1,454 seatbelt charges, 412 impaired driving charges, 311 stunt-driving charges, 243 distracted driving charges, 49 helmet charges and 11 marine safety equipment charges.
