“The new iPad is faster and has twice the storage for the same price,” says Broida. “It’s a ridiculously capable device, roughly on par with an iPhone, but with a much larger screen. Granted, I didn’t find the last model to be slow at all – quite the opposite – so I’m not too excited about the processor boost. But the extra gigabytes represent a big win. That means a lot more space for games, movies, recorded video and the like.”
Rick continued: “Two notable changes are internal: the A16 chip (which Apple says delivers a ‘huge leap in performance’) and 128GB of storage in the base model. That’s double the amount in the 10th-generation iPad, but Apple has kept the starting price at $349. Considering the 40% price increase on the 16e, the last entry-level iPhone, this is an unexpected and pleasant surprise.”

“This makes it the only current Apple device with a display that doesn’t feature the company’s next-generation smart features. However, some might argue that Apple Intelligence (at least in its current, unrealized form) is nice to have but hardly necessary. I’m on that side, too.”
