Rabies prevention: awareness campaign in school assemblies on Monday

The Health Department will organize an awareness program against rabies in schools in cooperation with the training department.

On Monday, health workers said on Saturday that health workers would lead awareness of the prevention of school children during the parliamentary time in all government and auxiliary schools.

The training department has published a special directive for schools. Doctors or healthcare workers from local health institutions and urban health centers will participate in awareness sessions.

In each region, a kindergarten, regional collector, public representatives and regional authorities from health and education departments will host a program at the level level.

Fast first aid and vaccine is extremely important when it comes to animal bites. If children maintain their animal bites, they are particularly vulnerable to rabies infection. Children and teachers will be aware of the application of first aid after a skin scratching by an animal bite or even a skin scratched by animal claws. The importance of vaccination and how to interact with animals will be taught to children.

In July, awareness lessons will be given for all school teachers and parents through PTA meetings. Brochures, videos and posters that offer guidance for children will also be prepared and widely distributed.

The campaign aims to increase rabies awareness and preventive measures between children, so that they will take the message home.
