Rachel Reeves humiliated by brutal Kemi Badenoch jibe at PMQs | Politics | News

Sir Keir Starmer did not rule out sacking Rachel Reeves following Kemi Badenoch’s brutal taunt at PMQs. While grilling the Prime Minister in the House of Commons, the Conservative Party leader called on the Prime Minister to “change the role” of the Chancellor.

Ms Badenoch said: “It’s time the Chancellor gave him an easy job. So will he listen to business, listen to the country and replace the Chancellor?”

Sir Keir replied: “In his Spring Statement the Chancellor was proud to say that inflation was down to 3% and falling, there were six interest rate cuts, we saw the growth figures earlier this year.

“And he says, ‘The cost of borrowing has increased.’ Yes, because there is a conflict in Iran. So what did he want to do? What did he do when I said we would not be dragged into our war? He said we should jump in with both feet, regardless of the consequences.”

Mrs Badenoch replied: “I didn’t hear the Chancellor say he wouldn’t change his karma. He sounds angry.”
