Air India unveils ‘The Maharaja Lounge’ at Delhi airport’s T3: Check eligibility, amenities, First Class section photos

Tata Group-owned aviation giant Air India opened its first flagship ‘The Maharaja Lounge’ at Terminal 3 of Delhi Indira Gandhi International Airport on February 6. According to the airline’s statement, the lounge, which covers an area of ​​16,000 square meters, can accommodate approximately 300 guests in the ‘Business’ class and special ‘First Class’ sections.

Air India CEO and MD Campbell Wilson said in a statement, calling The Maharaja Lounge “an important milestone in our transformation journey”.

“This is a tangible and proud representation of the ‘New Air India Experience’. We are striving to set a standard in aviation hospitality and this is just the beginning. Our strategic expansion plans include significant investments to build more such platforms that will redefine luxury and comfort for our guests in the countries we fly to,” he added.

When will the lounge open to guests? Who is eligible?

The Maharaja Lounge at Delhi airport T3 will be open to guests traveling in Business and First Class, Gold and Platinum Maharaja Club and eligible Star Alliance members from February 16, 2026.

According to the airline, “Maharaja Lounge has different zones designed to suit different needs, offering livelier areas for social interaction as well as quiet areas for relaxing or working.”

Some important areas in the hall are:

Aviator’s Bar: The bar has a chatty atmosphere and a well-selected wine and whiskey cellar. Its design is inspired by JRD Tata’s historic flight from Karachi to Bombay in 1932, and its roof was copied as the propeller of the first Puss Moth aircraft.

Globetrotter’s Research: Targeted at avid readers and working professionals, Globetrotter Research is Air India’s “answer to the workplace”, the airline said.

This section has a curated book collection of fiction and non-fiction titles, and has plenty of power outlets and high-speed connectivity, making it the ideal place to read in quiet comfort or work while traveling.

Asphalt view: The seating and dining areas of the ‘First-Class’ lounge overlook the tarmac, offering stunning views of planes taking off and landing for planespotters and curious travelers alike.

This includes a unique ‘Drinks on Wheels’ service, inspired by the traditional gueridon service, allowing guests to enjoy bespoke cocktail services at their seats.

Air India has also launched an innovative ‘Tea Programme’ to pay tribute to the most popular Indian beverage. Passengers can enjoy freshly brewed tea along with a variety of snacks and delicacies offered at the tea cart.
