Rahul Dravid Steps Down as Head Coach of Rajasthan Royals
New Delhi: On Saturday, Rajasthan Royals announced that he would be in front of the 2026 IPL season after he turned down a “wider position” in the franchise of his head coach Rahul Dravid.
Dravid was appointed as Royals’s head coach before the IPL 2025 season.
Interestingly, the Royals announcement comes in the midst of rumors that Captain Sanju Samson wants to leave the franchise.
“Rahul has been at the center of Royals’s journey for many years. Leadership impressed a generation of players, instilled strong values for the staff, and left an indelible trace on the franchise culture,” Royals said in X.
“As part of the structural examination of the franchise, Rahul was offered a wider position in the franchise, but he chose not to take it. Rajasthan Royals, players, millions of fans around the world, and sincere thanks to Rahul’s remarkable service.”
If Samson leaves the side, he will leave the royal in a difficult position a few months before the mini auction.
