Railway Official Assaults Passenger With Slipper, Suspended
Chittoor: A railway employee working at Guntakal Railway Division has been suspended after a video of him allegedly attacking a passenger with a slipper at Chittoor railway station in Andhra Pradesh surfaced online.
According to information, K. Jyothi, who was working as Chief Ticket Inspector (RS-2/CTO) in the Commerce Department of Guntakal Railway Division, who was supposed to manage Ticket Offices and passenger reservation systems (PRS), was suspended following the incident.
Following the argument that broke out near the ticket booth, the argument between him and a passenger escalated. While the officer lost his cool and allegedly hit the passenger with his slippers, the passenger who did not retaliate took a video of the employee. Passengers at the train station also took videos of the attack.
Although the incident has occurred before, the reason for the attack is unknown, but it came to light recently when the video was published on social media and went viral.
Taking a serious note, the Chief Commercial Officer of the South Coast Railway issued orders on June 14. The suspension order states that Jyothi will be suspended from duties and paid until further orders.
