Rajasthan exploring scope for utilisation of clean energy

The Rajasthan government has started exploring the scope of utilizing clean energy by switching to liquefied natural gas (LNG), compressed biogas and electric vehicles. Rajasthan State Gas Limited (RSGL), a joint venture company, presented a vision to expand its operations in new areas.

The state’s first LNG plant set up at Neemrana will benefit long-haul vehicles, mining areas and industrial units, RSGL chairman and Chief Secretary (Mines) T. Ravikanth said in Jaipur on Tuesday, February 3, 2026. RSGL is a joint venture between Rajasthan State Petroleum Corporation and GAIL Gas Limited.

RSGL, which acts as the nodal agency for developing natural gas infrastructure in Rajasthan, held its 46th Board meeting here. During the meeting, Mr. Ravikanth said that the supply of compressed biogas has been started on a pilot basis in Kota and steps have been taken to ensure that citizens can easily access affordable and green energy.

“The possibilities of opening LNG outlets on the highway, including in Jaipur and Kota, and developing an electric vehicle network within a 300 to 400 km radius of Jaipur are being explored,” Mr. Ravikanth said.

In addition, work has been initiated to establish compressed biogas facilities and electric vehicle charging stations on main routes. At the meeting, it was informed that this study was started as a pilot and the network would be expanded according to the results.
