Rajeev Chandrasekhar Slams DK Shivakumar Over Don’t Want Keralites Remark

Thiruvananthapuram: Kerala BJP chief Rajeev Chandrasekhar on Tuesday launched a scathing attack on Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar for his remarks against people from Kerala in connection with the Kogilu rape eviction controversy.
Responding to Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan’s criticism over the eviction drive, Shivakumar said, “We don’t want any Keralites. Let the CM do his job and we will do ours.”
Reacting strongly, Chandrasekhar accused the Congress of implementing divisive policies. He alleged that the party was trying to divide people on the basis of caste, geography, religion and language.
Chandrasekhar wrote about X: “This Congress ‘leader’ is exactly what Rahul Gandhi ordered. For a party that talks about Bharat Jodo and the Constitution, its politics is about dividing people on caste, geography, religion and language.”
He further stated: “By DK Shivakumar’s shameless political standards, should Malayalis and Indians say that we do not want Italians and semi-Italians interfering in Kerala and India?”
Earlier, DK Shivakumar had accused Kerala CM Pinarayi Vijayan of politicizing the Kogilu rape evictions due to fear of defeat in the upcoming Kerala Assembly elections.
After inspecting the cleared government land in Kogilu, Shivakumar said the land was earmarked for solid waste management nine years ago and recently the shacks were constructed illegally. The official said that notifications were made to the residents of the building before the evacuation and claimed that the area was not suitable for settlement.
Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah said that 164 illegal shacks were demolished after due notification and the genuine evacuees will be rehabilitated in Byappanahalli after verification.
