Ramadoss urges DMK govt. to address demands of revenue staff on strike

Pattali Makkal Katchi (PMK) founder S. Ramadoss on Thursday, February 26, 2026, urged the Tamil Nadu government to immediately meet the demands of Revenue Department officials and employees who are on strike across the state.

Dr. In a statement, Ramadoss said revenue union federations are pushing for increased salaries and special allowances, withdrawal of 10% employee contribution under the guaranteed pension scheme, filling of vacancies on a time basis and ensuring the safety of officials in the Revenue, Disaster Management and Investigation departments.

He said that directly hired revenue inspectors also want salary determination according to 12.^This Pay Commission and rule changes to enable promotion as Deputy Tahsildar after four years. He added that the strike affected services such as land surveys, patta transfers and certificate issuance.

Stating that authorities often face risks when enforcing laws and implementing programs, Dr. Ramadoss said the demands for special appropriations and service protection legislation were justified. He also criticized the reduction of the compassionate appointment quota and called on the government to hold talks and meet employees’ demands, noting that more than 14,000 vacancies remain vacant.
