Ramayana’s Vishwamitra Ajinkya Deo on success mantra of Rishi Kapoor’s superstar son, admits he ‘made me feel so…’
Ajinkya Deo will soon be seen playing the sage Vishwamitra in Ranbir Kapoor’s Ramayana. Deo admired his superstar son and recalled shooting with Kapoor.

Ranbir Kapoor is truly a superstar not because of his film choices but also because of his behavior and connection with his audience and co-stars. You must have often seen how Ranbir’s co-stars praise him, calling him talented, a natural actor and humble. Now even Ajinkya Deo has been added to the list. Ajinkya will soon be seen playing Lord Rama’s (Ranbir) mentor Vishwamitra in Nitesh Tiwari’s Ramayana. In a recent interview, Ajinkya shared his thoughts on Ranbir and what makes him the youth superstar. While talking to Variender Chawla, Deo admired Ranbir and called him ‘pure-hearted’.

Deo admitted that Jr Kapoor made him feel at ease and respected him in an unexpected way. “RK made me feel very comfortable. Back in the day… You know, he used to say this about him too: ‘Sir, nice shot, yaar. I mean, I like it, yaar.’ When someone gives it to you, ‘Sir, aap lagte nahi ho yaar, where do you train?’ He added: “And I said, ‘Boss, thank you, thank you RK.’ ‘Look at yourself and look at me.’ He said, ‘No sir, aapki age tak pata nahi mera kya hone waala hai.’ And I said, ‘This is another life story.’ But he was very, you know… his heart was very, very pure. “There are no 3,4,5 filters in between.”
Deo broke down Ranbir’s success mantra and added, “He is what he is. And that makes him very… You know, all these things work very well on screen as well. There is an immediate direct connection with the audience. The moment you bring these screens in the mix, which was the case with previous stars. But it was like that then too. But today, there is no filter.”

Produced by Namit Malhotra and directed by Nitesh Tiwari, Ramayana is a two-part series starring Ranbir as Lord Rama, Ravie Dubey as Laxmana, Sai Pallavi as Goddess Sita and Yash as Raavana. The first part will be released on Diwali 2026 and the second part will be released on Diwali 2027.
