Rams troublemaker WR Puka Nacua says he’s a changed man after biting incident and stint in rehab

The NFL’s worst offseason award may belong to Rams wide receiver Puka Nacua.

Nacua, 24, has continued to make headlines since Los Angeles’ crushing NFC Championship loss to the Seattle Seahawks, with the spotlight coming to a head after allegations emerged that Nacua bit a woman during the New Year’s Eve incident.

Allegations of public drunkenness, allegations of anti-Semitic remarks and a string of embarrassing headlines have subjected the Rams’ star to intense scrutiny. Even Super Bowl-winning Seahawks quarterback Sam Darnold joined in the criticism.

Nacua also checked into rehab in Malibu and said the experience helped him think.

“As it is an ongoing legal battle, I don’t have much to talk about out of respect for the other party involved,” he said. “But as I mentioned before, [it’s] It’s a moment to learn from some of the situations I’ve gotten myself into. And also to make me aware of how I behave on and off this football field.”

Nacua is also reportedly receiving treatment for drug and alcohol problems.

During a New Year’s Eve dinner in Los Angeles, Nacua was accused of shouting “To hell with all the Jews.” A woman in his group also claimed that Nacua bit her forcefully on her shoulder and thumb. Nacua and his legal team denied the allegations of anti-Semitism in their press release.

The controversy surrounding the Nacua family deepened in January when Puka’s older brother, Samson, made headlines following his arrest over allegations of the theft of a Lakers player’s car. Samson was never charged. He had previously been suspended by the United Football League (UFL) for slapping a fan.
